Buttermilk for Breakfast makes for a healthy body
I remember the first time I tried buttermilk and was surprised to find that it was sour-tasting! But, I’ve since learned to really like that puckery flavor, and apparently so does Jimmy Fallon.
But is buttermilk really good for you?
I found this tidbit from food writer Peggy Trowbridge Filippone:
“Buttermilk is lower in fat than regular milk, because the fat has been removed to make butter,” she writes. “It is also high in potassium, vitamin B12, calcium, and riboflavin as well as a good source of phosphorus.”
“Those with digestive problems are often advised to drink buttermilk rather than milk, as it is more quickly digested. Buttermilk has more lactic acid than skim milk.”
Buttermilk is also a good source of probiotics.
Do you drink buttermilk?
