Singer 1748 32-Stitch Sewing Machine with 4-Step Buttonhole Review

by The Review CrewMay 30, 2010

The Singer 1748 32-Stitch Sewing Machine with 4-Step Buttonhole is a beginner’s device. But there’s no better way to delve into home sewing projects than with this Singer unit. Unparalleled in design, functionality, and ease-of-use, the 1748 is a great learner’s machine for a number of reasons.

The unit is a multifunctional sewing machine complete with 32 unique stitch patterns. This is a relatively small number of stitches, but again, it’s a beginner’s device. A 4-step buttonhole system with an automatic needle threader ensures that you won’t have to deal with pesky thread too often. The 4-step buttonhole system provides you with the ideal button stitch time after time, on all sorts of materials, we tested ours on a peacoat and it did marvelous work with ease. Adjustable stitch settings with free arm for pant legs and sleeves and a wide assortment of accessories make this unit invaluable. Included accessories are four snap-on pressure feet; standard presser foot, zipper foot, buttonhole foot, and button-sewing foot, as well as a feed cover plate, a pack of needles and bobbins, two spool caps, a screwdriver, oil, a seam ripper, and a lint brush and dust cover. The unit also has a compartment built specifically for housing these accessories.

The Singer 1748 32-Stitch Sewing Machine with 4-Step Buttonhole is a perfect gift for the budding sartorialist in any household and is a surprisingly great bargain at $150.
