Whenever we see the Bowflex Revolution FT lying dormant in a room – we are all reminded of a futuristic space craft. What – with those big wings at the top and that modular capsule at the rear – you’re probably starting to think the same thing too.
Once you get past its unusual design however, the potential of the Revolution FT starts to set in. It is at this point that you can build the confidence to walk up, get on, and start using the machine!
Revolutionary Resistance
Unlike the products which have gone before it, the Bowflex Revolution FT employs a totally new resistance system. The “SpiraFlex” technology – which apparently is quite revolutionary – is touted as being the next step up from Power Rods.
Indeed, the SpiraFlex did not disappoint. The most noticeable difference between the Revolution FT and other Bowflex products was the consistency of the weight distribution. Many previous Bowflex users complained that the Power Rods were easier to lift / pull at the beginning than they were towards the end of the repetition – often leading to partial muscle use.
The SpiraFlex system definitely solves this problem, and it was great to feel the difference ourselves.
Up To 280lbs Resistance
No – that was not a typo. The Bowflex Revolution FT Home Gym comes standard with 200lbs of resistance, but the most exciting feature of the product has got to be its extendability. Owners can order up to 280lbs of upper body resistance in special “add-on” packs, which is a tremendous amount of weight.
Clearly, even the most serious / professional body builder will find a use for the Revolution FT, as this possibly is the most weight ever seen on a home gym.
Useful Extras
The Revolution FT comes with an instructional DVD, a multi-point foot harness, and a squat harness to provide extra support for those specific exercises.
Positive Aspects Of The Bowflex Revolution FT Home Gym
The Bowflex Revolution FT Home Gym is truly a revolution in home fitness equipment. Once you swallow the enormous price tag (which is to be expected from a manufacturer like Bowflex anyway) – this gym will no doubt be your new pride and joy.
Yes, it looks like someone out of an alien movie, but let’s face it – serious gym users don’t care what their equipment looks like. Thankfully, the performance aspect is set to impress anyone lucky enough to encounter the product, and the future-proofing is commendable.
Negative Aspects Of The Bowflex Revolution FT Home Gym
The only problem with these “revolutionary” systems is that they take a bit of getting used to. Logical exercises which could be performed with ease on many other home gyms will need to be relearned on the Revolution FT.
Thankfully, the instruction manual comes is very handy in this respect, and the diagrams and clear and concise.
Overall – this is an exciting product which you should definitely consider, if you have the money.
