2011-09-14_15-52-39_592We had the opportunity to take a first hand look at the Outdoor Greatroom Company Pergola this year.  In addition we got several other items from them that really set the look off and completed the entire outdoor room experience.  While you might be thinking the season is over, with the setup we have here you can really enjoy this through the fall and if you live in a warmer climate you are definitely lucky enough to be able to use this all year around.

Tuscany II Pergola:

2011-09-14_15-53-35_435The fiberglass Tuscany II Pergola from The Outdoor Greatroom Company gives your entire outdoor room this great Roman look and sets the tone for everything else in your yard.  Standing 8 feet tall and measuring out 14’ x 14’ (roughly) you have plenty of room to fit just about anything else you would want to make your outdoor room experience perfect.

The beams you see in the picture are made of fiberglass, and attach to the columns with anchor screws.  The entire setup is a breeze and can be completed easily by a first time team of two people in less than an hour.

Balsam Collection Outdoor Furniture:2011-09-14_15-54-12_849

The Balsam Collection is a very nice and very well constructed PVC Wicker set.  It holds up to people of size easily and cleaning them is as easy as getting your garden hose.  The cushions that The Outdoor Greatroom Company sells are nice as they can be left out in the rain, they dry in about an hour simply by tipping them up so the vents are on the bottom allowing the water to escape.   What you see in the first picture in this article is what I have listed below:

Chair w/2pc Cushions

Glider w/2pc Cushions

Ottoman With Cushion

2011-09-14_15-54-30_489The Fireplace:

Unfortunately in order for you to get this fireplace you will have to ask for a custom build.  It is very nice, weighs about 800 pounds and runs on Propane or Natural Gas.  This fireplace gives off some heat and will make your outdoor room toasty during the fall months allowing you to really enjoy your backyard and the fall leaves.

The Venturi Flame Table Top Fire Pit (Ledgestone Finish) is a table top fire pit that is really great if you don’t have kids.  It’s tippy and cumbersome (because it gets hot and is difficult to handle/deal with).   In addition the Venturi Flame Gel Fuel cans are 2011-09-14_15-55-57_748expensive and only last several hours.

French Colonial Lantern:

The French Colonial Lanterns provide an outstanding look to the room.  The version we got uses small disposable LP canisters that run about 4 bucks for a set of 2.  If you are looking for anything other than small ambient light then you need to look elsewhere.  These lanterns are really just for show and they do a great job.

Custom Outdoor Kitchen w/Cook Number Grill and Refrigerator:

2011-09-14_15-55-10_310The Outdoor Kitchen we got was also custom, but they have quite a few selections on their website.  The top of the kitchen is a stone tile and the metal frame covered with breaker board and a stucko type material really looks nice together.  It has a Cook Number Grill and a Magic Chef refrigerator built into the unit.

My favorite part of this Outdoor Kitchen is the Cook Number Grill.  It has a searing plate, you grill the first side of your meat, then flip it… then you put the built in thermometer in your meat, turn the dial pad to how you want your meet cooked (Rare, Medium, Medium Well, Well, etc…) flipped the on switch and leave.  The grill will start BEEPING when your food is done and a light pattern lights up around the dial pad to let you know what the current status of your meat is.

All in all this is a great way to spend your days outdoors.  If you have slightly over $30,000 (with tax and shipping) you can enjoy this exact setup.  You can check this stuff out at their website.  All in all I have to say this review has been a lot of fun.  We did have some damage happen when it was shipped to us, the Outdoor Greatroom people were pretty fast to send a new grill replacement, although there was some structural damage on the Outdoor Kitchen, and one of the fiberglass beams that never got addressed.  I’d give them 4 out of 5 stars.

September 15, 2011 | Featured Articles, Sports and Recreation | 1 Comment

The ViewSonic VG2427wm gets points for a good assortment of ergonomic features--including screen height adjustment, 180 degrees swivel, and 25 degrees tilt. It also includes three USB ports and great movie and game performance. Yet, even with these attributes, we find it difficult to recommend the V...

"I wish my brother Rob was here" is a new release by Milo (known for his work with Nom De Rap and The Dilla-Gents).  His first solo release, which was dedicated to one of his good friends Rob Espinosa who passed away this year, is very appealing if you like to sit back and jam to what can only be c...
