How to get a FREE 1 Year SAMS Club Membership for the rest of your lifeHow To Get a FREE 1 Year SAMS Club Membership for the rest of your life? (Updated for 2013)

If you are like me you like to save money and sure you can get a lot of great deals at SAMS Clubs across the nation.  The problem is you have to pay for the privilege.  After taking a good hard look at their policy regarding memberships I came up with away around this several years ago and it has worked to get me a Free 1 Year SAMS Club Membership ever since. (You can also check out the How to Get a Free Costco Membership article too)

[cleeng_content id="594339074" description="Read this article for 50 cents (US)" price="0.99" referral="0.05"]So the first thing you do when you go to SAMS Club is head over to the customer service counter.  After all you actually NEED a membership to get into the store.

Steps to take to get the FREE 1 Year SAMS Club Membership for the rest of your Life:

They will ask you for your ID and credentials, etc… just get the account you want, fill out the paperwork and pay for your membership.

Now go about your business and buy what you want for about 50 weeks (almost an entire year).

The Secret to the FREE 1 Year SAMS Club Membership:

The SAMS Club membership agreement states that you can return your membership card for a full refund at any time for any reason.

Now I know what you are thinking… this is shady.  I disagree.  You see the one problem that I have with the membership is that I have to pay to spend my money in their store.  With this policy, they address that issue.  (Method #1)I can return my membership on week 50, get a full refund, and purchase another one.  I’ve done this three times to get a FREE 1 Year SAMS Club Membership.  A manager was called over the second time I did it and I explained that I was very satisfied with the product line, just not with the idea that I had to pay for the right to shop there, and noted that their return policy addressed this issue nicely.  He agreed, gave the cashier the nod, and said good one. I got my Free 1 year Sams Club membership. If this method will cause you to feel uncomfortable you can employ method #2. Method #2 is simply to return the membership at the SAMS club you are at for your full refund. Go home, and get your Free 1 year Sams Club membership online.

If you doubt my methods for the Free 1 year Sams Club Membership you can see for yourself, read the first paragraph of their policy.

When a company gives a satisfaction guarantee they do it because they want you to be fully satisfied.  If you can become satisfied by utilizing the membership, and the guarantee then they have fulfilled their mission, and so have you.  It is ethical, you are the customer, and the money back guarantee is their offer that you will be satisfied.

2013 FREE 1 Year SAMS Club Membership:

So when you notice your membership expire date is approaching, don’t be afraid to go up to the customer service desk and get your refund/renewal. Now take the money you just saved and go get a FREE COSTCO membership the process is a little different and we show you how to get TWO memberships! We talked to a SAMS Club PR and they told us the reason they have the return policy wide open is to make sure their customers are satisfied with the membership. They realize there is a certain portion of their membership base that does not like the idea of supporting the club through a paid for membership and this return policy is an effective way to remedy that issue and make those customers happy.

The membership fees pay the sams club associates that havent been laid off yet, and home office makes it harder each year to get a decent raise. Its hard enough for someone to find a decent paying job today and be able to pay for the gas to get there without having yes ” shady ” people as yourself making it more difficult. I know by experiance what the associate that you spoke to was thinking and feeling when you asked for your refund. Theirs alot of merchandise refunded becouse of lies and ” shady” stunts people pull to get things for free. Im just asking myself WHERE DO YOU WORK ? OR IF YOU WORK ANYWHERE !!! Im sure where ever your job is your so respected as any lier, theif, or “shady ” person should so deserve. Im always looking for a way to save money, but not in a why that im taking it out of the pockets of the associates that work hard every day. Your not taking money from the trillianair kids of Mr Sam Walton. That money doesent come from their cut. It comes out of ours.  When you perchase a membership your buying into the wholesale market, and you pay for certain advantages and oppertunities. You pay for the most knowladgeable associates you can ask for. One of the privilages is getting to eat your weight in demos. The 40 dollers you pay a year would clearly pay for that in itself. If you dident pay the membership the merchandise would be more exspensive. Anyway im sure you could find a way to rip someone off either way. Thats what “shady” people do. Have A Nice Day :)

I do not agree. You are the shady sort that drives up the prices for the rest of HONEST consumers. I cannot say for sure but you also do not pay taxes or are the owner of an entitlement mentality. It saddens me that some will always look for the loophole. Did you stop to consider that their business model is such that reverse thinking like this by you, will just raise the prices that you are paying and eliminate any advantages that you may benefit from. They also have the right to refuse you membership based on the criteria that you yourself have espoused. I would not sell you a new membership.

    • Anonymous

You’re a moron, they have a return policy for a reason and he is using it. Just like he said, if they didn’t want to lure people in with a risk free situation they wouldn’t have the policy in the first place. I’m not sure how you jump from him using their return policy to not paying taxes LOL.

      • James

Anonymous – congrats – you’ve only identified yourself as the moron with your immaturity and naivity. Reading through your comments to others clearly exposes you not only as an individual with low self-esteem, but also one of the many who believe someone owes you something. Pathetic at best, revolting is likely more appropriate. I don’t know your level of education – but you clearly need some more.

  • Anonymous

well i think that yes you are shady, i also think you are missing something, you are paying you still your money in their hands and as soon as you get it back you give it to them again, so 1 it is not free, 2 you are taking advantage of a loophole, that i am willing to bet you would complain when millionaire takes advantage of not paying taxes with a loop hole

    • Anonymous

      A millionaire isn’t living in poverty :(

      • Anonymous

I agree with the author. This refund policy is intentional on Sams Clubs behalf. I am sure all the avenues were studied by their coperate lawyers and this course they took with offering refunds for memberships was the best for their interests.

        • Anonymous

First off, the associate should take the time to proofread their comments because it makes the employees look bad. There’s an exception to all rules. Regardless of how much money this cause the company, it’s not a direct reflection of anyone’s salary. The company will meet the yearly sales mark and have money left over for Sam’s kids not the assiciates. This process will not even affect the associate bonus.

          • Anonymous

Regardless of how much money this cause the company,?????
            Who needs to proofread?

  • terri

When I worked at Sam’s…my all time favorite job by the way. Only quit because couldn’t handle the retail hours/days….the membership fee’s were pure profit. They didn’t count them in Sales. Of course they want to sell as many Memberships as possible. They aren’t stupid business people. But it didn’t affect the Associates in any way. At that time, Sam’s only took cash and checks and we did a quarter of a million in sales…just on Sunday for the six hours we were open. And we weren’t the busiest Club or the slowest one around. I do agree this person is taking the refund policy a little too far. Kind of like buying the Prom dress, wearing it for Prom and returning it. If he had to do it to feed his family, that’s one thing. Obviously the money isn’t the issue. It is his pride. But there will always be folks out there like this and you just have to ignore them, do right yourself & teach your children to do right. I met Sam, by the way. He drove his 1979 pick up truck until his death. He had his managers share hotel rooms at manager meetings. He didn’t believe in wasting money or buying a new vehicle for the sake of having a new vehicle. He and his wife didn’t live in a fancy mansion. He was very down to earth. I don’t know about his grandchildren but I bet his children are pretty down to earth, too. They are great philanthropists. (excuse the spelling)

A lot of you just don’t get it. So I will quote a PR person in Bentonville Arkansas “SAMS Club acknowledges that a certain segment of their customer base does not agree with the idea of paying for a membership. This is precisely why SAMS Club has the return policy worded the way they do. SAMS Club feels that after they have the opportunity to shop at the store they will not mind paying for a membership. However, if a customer wishes to avail themselves of the return policy before their membership expires and either keep the money or use the refund to purchase another membership we encourage them to do so. Everyone is welcome at SAMS Club.”

This is not shady. It’s thrifty.

  • anonymous

First of all Sam’s club is the cheater!! Why do they even charge a membership fee because the truth is you don’t even save any money you can find the same thing at there free store that is Walmart. This company ripe you off in every way they can!!!!!!

    • mike mcdermott

Wal-Mart no longer owns sams club crossmark does.

      • twodown

Like Bill said – Wal-Mart controls & owns 100% of Sam’s Club. The only thing Crossmark/Shopper Events does is product demonstration.

  • Bill Olson

Actually Sams Club is still wholly owned by Walmart.

  • Anonymous

Lol…you explained how to cheat the system and then explained how its not wrong to do so… ha ha. That’s so funny…. you have so clearly shown yr honesty

I couldn’t agree with you more. Paying to spend your money seems absurd in any economy.

If Sam’s Club doesn’t like it they should change the rules. If Sam’s Club Associates do not like it they should seek other employment (WalMart is always hiring ).

  • Julie

That is shady no matter what the writer thinks. That policy is in place sure, but it wasnt meant to be used for 50 weeks then returned because you dont like paying for a membership. Then immediately buying another membership for the next year.

  • James

This writer believes his cancel membership process is clever, but it’s simply a scam from someone who has no concept of dignity, honor, fairness, or honesty. Your membership refund argument is empty.
If you’re dissatisfied after membership, or don’t want to pay a membership fee going in, the honorable behavior is to cancel your membership or don’t enroll – and simply shop elsewhere. If you believe that your membership provides value but don’t like to pay a fee for the priviledge – refunding your membership is only taking advantage of the retailer’s goodwill to satisfy its customers, and you’re simply a cheat. I know you won’t accept this conclusion because your only consideration is to please yourself; and that’s the saddest conclusion.

    • http://www.reviewboard.com Review Crew

Perhaps you need to actually read the article. In it, is a statement from SAMS Club stating that the policy was designed to address the issue of people who do not wish to pay yearly for a membership. This shows it isn’t a scam. I’m sorry you feel the way you do, fortunately the people who run the establishment do not feel that way. Which leaves you kind of out there…

    • Anonymous

James sounds a lot like Mitt Romney talking about the 47%. LMFAO We know what that means… He has already lost this debate before he started!

  • LYLINDER ALLEN

WAY CAN’T YOU’ER HELP THE POOR AND ACCEPT LONE STAR CARD IN THE STORE IT WILL GO HELP A LOT FOR THERE FAMILY

  • Think About It

You will always be recycling the cost of which ever membership you have (be it the $40 or $100). In essence, Sam’s Club is allowed to sit on that money, like it were a zero percent interest loan. Take this practice, and multiply it by the number of people who choose to pursue this route = ultimately, Sam’s Club still makes out handsomely…

  • Larence

Yes, the fact that they have approximately $40 from a person sitting in the bank collecting interest, they are still fine. And few people will do this above method so why not take advantage of it! If they didn’t want the offer to be at “ANY” time they wouldn’t have stated it that way.. It would say 60 days or what have you. So please, do this, people!!

  • Steve

No matter how you attempt to justify it, what you are doing is morally wrong. You shop at the Club because you know the prices are lower than everywhere else. The Membership fees collected help to keep those prices that way. Your argument that just because a lot of people don’t do it, that somehow that makes it ok for you is just another way to justify something you know is wrong. I myself can’t knowingly cheat a company out of money and sleep well. I guess some oan

  • Joline Jameson

Personally, I enjoy paying for my membership. On occasion I even tip the cashier collecting my fee an extra $20. I feel this is money well spent because I get a gal. of milk for .30 cheaper than my local grocery store only a block from my house. The lines are indeed long, thats ok as I have nothing else to do. Please don’t hate, just my opinion.

  • guy

really? I knew someone once who bought a $1500 stereo sound system, threw a huge party that weekend then returned the stereo system for a full refund. I don’t find what you’re doing any different. Just because you can get away with it, doesn’t mean its the right thing to do…

Do you also eat full expensive dinners at nice restaurants, then throw in a fly or cockroach on the plate afterwards and expect not to pay?

  • Mike

This works if I sign up for a new membership online, I presume. Yes/no/maybe? Of course, near the end of the membership I would need to cancel in the store.

    • Reviewboard

      Yes.
