Now you see me was an extraordinary treat.  I really enjoyed the movie.  I’m not a big fan of telling people what happens in movies during a review, so I’m going to leave that to the trailer (which always seems to tell too many secrets) but… let me give you a background.

The story is based on a group of 4 pretty extraordinary magician-ish people.  There is a magician, an escape artist, a thief and a conman.  They are brought together by an unknown party to stage some of the best magic tricks ever seen.  One of which is what you see in the trailer… they rob a bank in Paris during a show at Las Vegas.

Jesse Eisenberg’s role was well done, but we’ve seen it before in the Social Network.  He plays the same character except this one does magic tricks.  Isla Fisher did pretty well, but was really just another blip on the screen.  Woody Harrelson did a very good job in his role as conman, Morgan Freeman played the same character we’ve seen him play in loads of movies and he did it very well… you know the one… the kind of mysterious older gentlemen who has that condescending glimmer in his eye and always seems to know way more than you do….

Lastly… but not at all least… Mark Ruffalo.  He was a mad man – such a good actor.  Watch his performance and you will be sure to agree with me.  His part was perfectly played all the way to the end.  The film and plot were well written.  I did call around 70% of what was going to happen including the end, but it was done well and there were enough plot twists to have you guessing enough to be exciting.   In addition, a lot of what I called ahead was only minutes before it actually happened so it wasn’t incredibly obvious.

All in all I give the movie Now You See Me 4 out of 5 stars.  It was very well done, totally worth seeing (even at night when it is full price!).
