ableplanet Linx DSP Premium Digital Amplification Device Review

right-ear-ps2500amp_2Personal Sound.  That’s kind of a neat concept, although one could argue that all sound is personal!  The idea behind this concept is that you can have a device to help sharpen your hearing without needing one of the traditional hearing aids.  Why would you want to do that?  Well I’m 42 and lately I’ve been having some issues hearing certain frequencies.  They sound muffled to me, and I have to turn the television up a little louder than I used to.  I’m not sure what is going on, and some day I might want to go and get it checked out.  So these make a sense for me if I’m going to be somewhere that it is important for me to hear every word.  Like my son’s concerts (he’s a professional musician, here is a very cheap plug, buy everything that is by milo LOL).

It’s also great for meetings and conferences where I need to hear everything (even quite possibly the whispers across the room).  The PS2500AMP is one of ableplanet’s best units.  It has the following features:

  • Patented LINX® DSP, an acoustical Environment Management™ technology with feedback management and noise reduction
  • Multichannel signal processing with 12 gain adjustment bands
  • “Natural” directionality
  • Nearly invisible
  • Fits comfortably in the ear
  • 2TAP™ controller to switch between environment management programs

It’s very light, you can use one or two, they do not weigh down your ear at all… they are comfortable, and they have 70 hours of battery life.  They reduce some of the clutter sounds in the room with a quad-mode noise reduction system, they have automatic gain control (there are 12 gain adjustments).  This is about as state of the art as you can get, and they sound great.

What’s in the box?

  1. LINX DSP V1
  2. D Ring
  3. Wax Guard
  4. Cleaning Brush
  5. 6-pack of Batteries (70 hours x 6 to get you started)
  6. Hard shell storage case
  7. Soft carrying pouch
  8. Instruction Manual

The ableplanet LINX DSP Premium Digital Amplification Device (Model PS2500AMP) is absolutely amazing.  We think it would make a great gift for Father’s Day, which is why we included it in our 2013 Father’s Day Gift List.  We are also going to award it the 2013 Reviewboard Best Buy Award.  Out of all the other personal listening devices on the market, this is the best unit we have tested to date. 5 out of 5 stars, in our opinion this is the best Personal Sound device money can buy.  They run about $500 (US) each online, if you get a pair they knock $100 off.
