Motorola Talkabout 2-Way Radios Model MT350R Review

Agreat idea for the 2013 Father’s Day Gift List is some cool walkie talkie’s. Motorola makes some 2-way radios that fit the bill nicely coming in with a 35 mile range (up to), built in flash light, etc… etc.. They are between 60 – 90 bucks US depending on where you pick them up and you get two radios with that deal.
I wrote a review on the Motorola Talkabout 2-way Radios quite awhile ago (at least 5 years ago) and at the time they had MAYBE a 17 mile range (I want to say). The technology has really come a long way, and the price point has gone down. In fact, Motorola has managed to make these weatherproof (rain, snow and other wet conditions) and really put a lot of thought into modern day design.
For instance, they charge with a mini usb port which is what a lot of your older cell phones used to charge with just a few years ago. Still current enough that there are a lot of adapters, and other odds and ends around in your house (most likely) that will allow you to charge it even if you loose the plug. MORE over, you won’t be stuck should you not have any of these items because picking up a mini usb port charge is as easy to going to… just about any store (like Walmart, Radio Shack, whatever). More importantly you aren’t locked into a proprietary batter, you can use the rechargeable NiMH batteries or alkaline batteries like Energizer, Duracell etc… So in a pinch you don’t have to wait for power.
Another cool feature of these Motorola Talkabout 2 way radios is the fact that they are capable of monitoring 2 channels at the same time. I haven’t seen that functionality in small consumer hand-helds.
All in all I think the Motorola Talkabout 2-way radios are very cool, they make an excellent Father’s Day Gift, and you can find them in just about any department store. 5 out of 5 stars to Motorola.
