2016 @Lexus LX 570 Review

2016 @Lexus LX 570 Review

The 2016 Lexus LX 570 is a 5.7 liter V-8 coming in at 383 horsepower with a whopping 401 lb-ft of torque.  It has an all new 8-speed automatic transmission, and when equipped to do so, can tow up to 3 1/2 tons.  The cabin space is roomy, and can be expanded by folding down the 2nd and 3rd row seats if needed.

The great thing about luxury brands in general is what you get in the standard package.  You won’t be disappointed with the power front seats, navigation system, 4 zone climate control, power sliding 40/20/40 split-folding second row seats, rearview camera, 20-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors, LED headlights, and the Lexus Premium Audio package.  The 2016 Lexus LX 570 is tailored for comfort.

Safety is also a priority in the design of the new 2016 Lexus LX 570.  You get the standard dual front, front-side and siden curtain airbags, but in the new 2016 LX 570 you also get knee airbags for the front and side airbags for passengers in the rear.  If you have the Lexus Safety System Plus you get adaptive cruise control, intelligent high beams, pedestrian detection, and lane departure alerts. You also get a rather impressive Pre-Collision System that adds automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning.

It has a great ride, and it really is a luxury on long trips.  While it is designed to kind of “go anywhere” it’s still a Lexus so it is unlikely you will WANT to go off-roading.. but it is nice to know in a world crisis it is an OPTION 🙂  Well… I mean unless you are the type of person that rolled up to the dealer and cut a personal check for the vehicle and wasn’t something you planned to buy.  In a money is no object scenario you could don the role of douche bag and go to the rural mudding club meeting in your LX 570.  Perhaps even get together with Billy Bob and put a 6″ lift kit in it because you can. 🙂

But seriously.  The 2016 Lexus LX 570 is a true machine filled with luxury, safety, and a smooth ride. It’s base price is about 90k and you can definitely hit the near 100k mark with luxury options.  The bad side is it is a gas guzzler.  You are looking at a really lousy 13 mpg in the city, 18 on the highway. It really isn’t impressive with the emissions at 1.31 lb/mile.

While the 2016 Lexus LX 570 is a really nice SUV for the 80s. It really is a car designed for douche bags that don’t care about screwing up the environment. In light of the recent announcement from the White House about climate change and how it is much worse than we previously thought. About how the change is going to kill 27,000 Americans in the Summer of 2100 because it will be so hot it will be impossible to work outside… I think it is time for companies that manufacture cars to start making sure we are doing our best to combat the climate changes.  ESPECIALLY in luxury vehicles where people can afford to pay for upgrades that can make a real difference.  In all fairness to Lexus they certainly didn’t know about this climate change announcement when they made the 2016 Lexus LX 570.  That said, there are Electric Luxury options out there that will certainly get you where you are going in style.

2 out of 5 stars for the 2016 Lexus LX 570. While they were not aware of the climate change announcement when they built the LX 570, it is 2016 and it should have been on their mind regardless.  With power comes responsibility.  People with money are generally people with Power.  Let’s make a difference.
