The FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer has been around for a while now, but it just keeps getting better and better.

Packaged with some of the most popular accessories and better than ever, the FoodSaver V2240 vacuum sealer we tested is the bedrock of the FoodSaver line of products. It adds a bunch of design and function upgrades to improve the in-kitchen experience.

Our favorite upgrades are the variable speed option, the CrushFree feature, the on-board vacuum packaging roll storage compartment and cutter, and the seal-only feature.

With older FoodSaver models, the sealing process sometimes happened so quickly that the contents of the package would be crushed. Now, the variable speed option lets you adjust the speed of sealing depending on the size of the bag or container you're using with the vacuum sealer in combination with food-specific settings to ensure the best seal. And if you're trying to seal something delicate, you can use the new CrushFree function to instantly interrupt the vacuum process to prevent the contents of the package from being crushed.

The roll storage compartment held our FoodSaver roll, which saves us the hassle of finding storage space in our already crowded kitchen drawers. Plus, we were able to cut the bags to the desired size, extending the number of uses from one roll, which is a great cost saver.

We used the seal-only feature to quickly and easily seal up an open bag of chips in the blink of an eye. This function will be a definite boon to food freshness, especially for people who live in warm-weather climates where humidity and pests can cause food to go stale or worse in no time. 

For you FoodSaver newbies, the FoodSaver bags can be used to freeze, boil, and microwave, which makes the whole idea of buying in bulk and home food storage about 1,000 times simpler. Whether you cook in batches, like we do, or you just have leftovers from a regular meal, you pop the food in the FoodSaver bag, seal it, freeze it, and reheat it the next time you need some fast food.
