AtMail Mail Server Software - Winner of the 2009 Editor's Choice Award

We needed to upgrade from Merak Mail Server to a new mail server due to the number of SPAM messages getting through the support issues we were having. The amount of SPAM messages that were getting through our old Merak server was horrendous and the total lack of help/support we were getting from our vendor caused us to go on a journey looking at every enterprise level mail server software in the industry.

We looked at many servers that could handle our load and AtMAIL Mail Server was the hands down leader. The pricing is better than most given the power of this enterprise level tool.

The AtMAIL web site and documentation has to be the best we have found. Its information is written in a way to allow for a complete install with all the bells and whistles that are needed to support our busy schedules. The knowledge base is chock-full of information. The product set is well thought out and is very complete.

We were amazed at the speed this server was able to accept mail. Our install was on the Linux platform and the install went off without a hitch. We were up and running in about 2 hours end to end. Our platform is even virtualized and the performance is far superior to what we had. The web interface is the fastest loading interface on the market.  I have 35,000 email (literally) in my inbox and it loads in less than 2 seconds. You actually do not need a client on your desktop. But in case you do use one such as Microsoft Outlook there is a GroupWare module available that allows the active synchronization of all groupware functions with the mail server such as calendaring.  The sharing of calendars and appointments is a snap.  Even from the extremely rich web interface the calendar/scheduling is a pleasure to use.

Now for you mail administrators out there. This is a fully featured email platform not just email software. They have thought of almost everything. This product can be purchased in the software version, which we have, or as a fully complete all installed hardware appliance. The hardware appliance is the true plug and play mail solution, one that is ready go when you plug it into the outlet. Power it up, license it, add your users, register your domain, secure your access and off you go. These appliances can even be clustered for the larger shops out there or for those who need fully redundant mail infrastructure.

The anti-virus and anti-spam set up is pretty straightforward. The product supports a whole host of tools to help you fight the SPAM that plagues everyone using email today. AtMAIL supports DNSBL, pattern matching technology, message redirection, full blacklist and white list; both domain and user, Group and user filtering is also available. The web interface even allows users to define their own level of anti-spam protection. The system even supports Bayesian filtering, all built into the install.

For those administrators that have to support the smart devices and mobile users; this worked out of the box for us.  With this module the mail synch is working on all of our devices without any issues.  The access your mail anywhere from the phone or mail device was very easy to get up and running. It even supports the WAP/XHTL and PocketPC for those smaller browsers.
