TERMS FOR SUBMISSIONS AND PRODUCT REVIEWS (TERMS OF SERVICE):
Reviewboard Magazine believes in a hands-on, real world evaluation of a product or service. We like to keep our testing limited to testing that an actual consumer could do in their home. To achieve this we use a combination of skilled editors, our lab, experienced field professionals, and Internet research (existing consumer opinion) to establish baselines for comparative analysis. Using these baselines as a starting point we then test products and services in the real world, often taking products home with us and testing them out with our families and friends. If there is an NDA or Embargo in place we test your product in-house with the security of the product as a priority. We are committed to giving our readers solid, valid information about your product, whether good, bad or ugly. We will try and work with your company in the event of an issue with a product. We will contact the media relations person that sent the product and give them a heads up. We will then contact support and walk through the various stages of that portion of the evaluation. If we don’t have a problem we may fabricate one simply to judge how your company handles support issues, often following it all the way through.
Your product is judged on Functionality, Looks, Availability, Price Point, Reliability, Support, Existing Consumer Opinion and resale value. Resale value is a very important part of the review, and gives us a good method to judge how your price point compares to the products real world value. Consumers resell the products they no longer use on eBay and other auctions, in newspapers, and to their friends. Having this information allows them to have the peace of mind that when they are finished they can get a portion of the money spent back to help with the next best thing. The final part of the process is award consideration.
Venues for Product Reviews:
Your product may be reviewed online at Reviewboard.com and/or in eBook form. Online, your product might appear in a standalone review, a ranking chart, product comparative or main feature. All comparative or standalone reviews are handled by our Reviews Department, and roundups and features are generally handled by the features department.
Product Comparisons (roundups) are generally considered features and are evaluated once or twice a year. We will only rank products that are currently shipping in any comparison or chart we may have. Preproduction or Beta products are covered in short, standalone reviews. We do not rank or grade pre-production products, instead it is an article about the promise of the product and how exciting it is to work with the new features.
By submitting products to us for review you and your company agree to allow us to complete the entire review process. You should get to know your beat editor, pitching your product as early as possible is always good. Editor’s will sign a non-disclosure agreement provided the document has the product’s name, the date the NDA expires, and standard escape clauses that allow us to report the information that is in the public domain or that we discover independently. If your NDA does not have these standard clauses we do not authorize any of our staff to sign them, or we may include an addendum that covers them. Please note that if the embargo date changes we will drop the product from our lineup and either push back coverage or not cover it at all. If you would like a beat editor list email submissions at Reviewboard dawt com and request one. Please include your company name, your name, phone number, the product(s) you represent, and the pitch. We will not give out lists of the beat editors without this information. All products that are shipped to us must be shipped to our Oswego, Illinois address, and all emails coming from our publication will be coming from a @reviewboard.com email address. If you ship product to any other address, or correspond with any other email you do so at your own peril because you are not speaking to our staff member. ALWAYS INCLUDE A TRACKING NUMBER when shipping a product to us. Our shipping and receiving department uses this number to track the package and make sure our beat editors get the product without issues. Without a tracking number we cannot guarantee that your product will get reviewed, or even received by our reviews team. It is your responsibility to provide tracking information and if you fail to do so we will refuse to be liable for anything you ship to us, regardless of any written agreement to the contrary.

BY SUBMITTING PRODUCT TO REVIEWBOARD MAGAZINE FOR REVIEW YOU AGREE TO THESE TERMS UNCONDITIONALLY. WE WILL UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ACCEPT LIABILITY FOR ANY PRODUCT YOU SHIP TO US INCLUDING ANY REPLACEMENT PRODUCTS, ACCESSORIES, OR ANYTHING ELSE YOU SEND THAT WE DID OR DID NOT ASK YOU FOR. YOU PERSONALLY AGREE TO INDEMNIFY REVIEWBOARD MAGAZINE, RANDOM PUBLISHING, INC, ITS OWNERS, HEIRS, ASSIGNS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS AND AGENTS FROM ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM THE USE, MISUSE, THEFT, SALE, OR DESTRUCTION OF THE PRODUCT OR SERVICE SUBMITTED TO US FOR REVIEW. BY RELEASING THE PRODUCT OR SERVICE TO OUR STAFF WITHOUT SECURING PAYMENT IN FULL UP FRONT YOU UNDERSTAND THAT YOU WILL NOT GET THIS PRODUCT OR SERVICE BACK AND AGREE TO OUR TERMS OF SERVICE UNCONDITIONALLY. YOU UNDERSTAND THAT WE CHARGE THE FULL RETAIL VALUE OF EACH PRODUCT OR SERVICE WE REVIEW FOR OUR SERVICES. THIS IS A FEE FOR SERVICES RENDERED AND AS SUCH WE KEEP THE PRODUCT OR SERVICE IN LIEU OF OUR FEE FOR SERVICES. YOU AGREE THAT IF YOU ASK US TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT THAT INVOLVES RETURNING YOUR PRODUCT YOU ARE ENGAGING OUR FEE FOR SERVICES AND WILL PAY US THE RETAIL VALUE OF THE PRODUCT YOU SHIP TO US FOR SERVICES RENDERED.
YOU AGREE THAT OUR SERVICES ARE RENDERED IN FULL THE SECOND YOUR PRODUCT(S) ARE SUCCESSFULLY DELIVERED TO OUR LOCATION AND OUR STAFF TOUCHES YOUR PRODUCT(S). WE INITIATE AN IN-QUEUE CATEGORY THAT LETS US ANNOUNCE THAT WE ARE REVIEWING THE PRODUCT(S) TO ALL OF OUR READERS AND SOCIAL NETWORK FANS AND FOLLOWERS. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT WILL HAPPEN SHORTLY AFTER OUR STAFF RECEIVE THE PRODUCT(S).
IN THE EVENT YOU NEED YOUR PRODUCT BACK BECAUSE THERE IS LIMITED INVENTORY AND REQUIRE THAT WE SIGN AN EVALUATION AGREEMENT, WE WILL DO SO, PROVIDED YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT WE WILL NOT RELEASE THE PRODUCT IN QUESTION UNTIL OUR FEE IS PAID IN FULL. ONCE YOU RELEASE THE PRODUCT TO OUR STAFF OUR SERVICES ARE ENGAGED, AND WE REQUIRE PAYMENT IN FULL AS RESOURCES, STAFF TIME, AND SPACE HAVE ALREADY BEEN ALLOCATED TO COMPLETE OUR SERVICES. PAYMENT IS DUE 15 DAYS AFTER THE FIRST REVIEW OF YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICE IS PUBLISHED ON REVIEWBOARD.COM. IF WE DO NOT RECEIVE PAYMENT IN FULL WITHIN THE SPECIFIED TIME, WITHOUT PRIOR PAYMENT AGREEMENT, YOUR PRODUCT WILL BE LIQUIDATED TO COVER OUR FEE. ANY EXCESS AMOUNT COLLECTED WILL BE REFUNDED TO YOUR COMPANY IN THE FORM OF A CREDIT FOR FUTURE SERVICES. DUE TO THE NATURE OF OUR SERVICES AND THE FACT THAT HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE INSTANTLY RECEIVE INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR PRODUCT THROUGH OUR TWITTER, FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, AND OTHER SOCIAL NETWORKING ACTIVITIES WE CAN NOT AND WILL NOT OFFER ANY REFUNDS BECAUSE WE CAN NOT UNDO THE EXPOSURE YOUR PRODUCT RECEIVED.
YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT WE WILL REVIEW THE PRODUCT, AND INVESTIGATE YOUR COMPANY SUPPORT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. THE BEST WAY TO EVALUATE A COMPANY’S SUPPORT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES IS TO SEE HOW THEY REACT TO A TOTAL LOSS MALFUNCTION. THIS MIGHT MEAN WE ACTUALLY HAVE A MALFUNCTION LIKE THIS, OR IT COULD MEAN THAT WE ARE MAKING UP ISSUES TO SEE HOW YOUR SUPPORT TEAM REACTS. WE FEEL THE BEST WAY TO TREAT A CUSTOMER IS TO REPLACE A UNIT THAT IS MALFUNCTIONING WITHIN THE FIRST 60 DAYS. YOU GET 2 EXTRA STARS FOR THIS. IF YOUR COMPANY REPLACES THE PART THAT IS MALFUNCTIONING YOU GET 1 STAR. IF YOUR COMPANY DOESN’T OFFER A SOLUTION YOU DON’T GET ANY OF THE EXTRA STARS, AND MAY ACTUALLY LOSE ONE. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL EXTRA PARTS, INCLUDING THE REPLACEMENT UNIT WILL NOT BE RETURNED. THIS HELPS US EVALUATE RESALE VALUE WHILE GIVING US THE OPTION TO UTILIZE THE SECOND PRODUCT (AFTER WE REPAIR IT IF NEED BE) IN HOUSE FOR FUTURE EXPOSURE OPPORTUNITY.
YOU AGREE IF THERE IS NO SIGNED AGREEMENT TO RETURN YOUR PRODUCT, WE WILL ASSUME YOU DO NOT WISH TO PAY OUR FEE FOR OUR SERVICES. IF YOU WANT YOUR PRODUCT BACK AND DO NOT HAVE A SIGNED AGREEMENT YOU MUST PAY THE RETAIL VALUE OF THE PRODUCT USING THE LINK BELOW WITHIN 24 HOURS AFTER DELIVERY. WE CAN NOT GUARANTEE WE WILL BE ABLE TO RETURN THE PRODUCT IN THE CONDITION IN WHICH IT WAS SENT AFTER THAT, OR AT ALL FOR THAT MATTER.
THESE TERMS ARE NON-NEGOTIABLE AND ANY WRITTEN AGREEMENT WE SIGN TO ASSURE YOU RETURN OF YOUR PRODUCT SHALL NOT CHANGE OUR TERMS OF SERVICE. YOU UNDERSTAND WE WILL ALTER ANY WRITTEN AGREEMENT YOU SEND US TO REFLECT THIS POLICY. YOU AGREE THAT JURISDICTION FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM YOUR PRODUCT WILL BE IN THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, IN KENDALL COUNTY. IF ANY PART OF THIS AGREEMENT IS DEEMED UNLAWFUL OR UNENFORCEABLE THE REST OF THE AGREEMENT REMAINS BINDING AND IN FULL EFFECT.
YOU AGREE THAT IF YOUR WEBSITE HAS SUFFICIENT QUALITY PHOTOS OF YOUR MERCHANDISE THAT WE CAN USE THOSE PHOTOS IF WE WISH AND YOU FULLY LICENSE US TO DO SO. IF THE PHOTOS ARE LICENSED TO YOU BY A THIRD PARTY YOU AGREE TO TAKE CARE OF AND PAY FOR WHATEVER LICENSE REQUIREMENTS NEED TO BE IN PLACE FOR OUR USE.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES NECESSARY TO OUR TERMS OF SERVICES ON THE FLY AS NEEDED TO INSURE THAT OUR COMPENSATION FOR SERVICES RENDERED ARE ENFORCEABLE AND LEGAL. IN ANY OF THESE FUTURE CHANGES YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT THE MAXIMUM WE MAY DEMAND IN PAYMENT FOR OUR SERVICES IS THE PRODUCT YOU SUBMITTED FOR REVIEW.
Beat editors meet once a month to discuss products and services that are reviewed. Products are put into a nomination pool and considered for awards later in the year from that pool. We announce our awards during the Holiday season. Consumer awards are based on surveys that we do once or twice a year polling our users. You will be notified in August if your product is going to receive an award so that you will have time if you desire to use the award logo in sales literature for the holidays. Logo rights and usage fees do apply.
The Awards we have are: Product of the Year, Editor’s Choice Award, Consumer Choice Award, Reviewboard Select Award, a Decade of Excellence award, and the Reviewboard Best Buy Award.
